I went through this same kind of thing with the Akai Advance along with hundreds of other users. The features and fixes will come but of course if you cannot wait and can return your product then do it and revisit at another time when the product has matured a bit. I took that approach with MK1 and waited until 3rd party VST support was released before jumping in. I always expect this kind of thing with new products/versions so my rule of thumb (unless I want to be part of the development stage) is to always wait 6 months after release before purchase to see what users complain about and what the response is. The features will start to roll out but updates from NI have always been kind of slow, their team must be small/limited.

This allows a small number of units to be manufactured and if any glaring issues occur, they can be addressed in the next batch.Įverything that is being said on the forums or anywhere on the internet about the MK2 is being heard by NI I can almost guarantee that. The idea is to start with the absolute core features that work, enough to get the product to market then develop/test the rest of the functionality while also listening out for feedback from the public. I use to see this often with the company I worked for (and associated companies) and any initial release was always considered an unofficial public beta.
#Controller editor mk2 software
A lot of problems could be solved with some simple communication or roadmap of development but that's rare for a corporation to do for numerous reasons.Īs someone who works on the technical side of products for 15+ years, is involved in Beta testing/troubleshooting for a variety of companies and develops software myself I can say that the what we have with the MK2 release of Komplete Kontrol is a product that had a deadline to market and reached that deadline before the development could be completed. I think the issue is for an intelligent (and expensive) controller, having a touch strip that offers no more benefit than just an encoder when it's implied from the marketing that it's an intelligent control is unsettling especially when there is no mention anywhere that features are unfinished or expected in the next release.
